Are you, or can you be, registered with the GSCC?

Jacaranda has opportunities for Social Workers and Social Pedagogues with experience or newly qualified (but with internship experience).

Please read on to find out what you could potentially be doing in 3-6 months time and how to go about it.

Salary: £22,000 - £33,000 - depending on experience

Employer: Local government

You must be GSCC (General Social Care Council) registered before starting the job – Check www.gscc.org.uk for more information.

Jobs available in Children’s Services are mainly in:

Duty/Assessment - The job is to assess children who are at risk of harm or being neglected.
You will be undertaking individual assessments of need, initial assessments and recommend and develop appropriate targeted interventions that meet the needs of children, young people and their families.

OR

Looked After Children - The job is to assess the quality of care, gain feedback from the child in care, respond to feedback appropriately, create care plans, work with parents and arrange rehabilitation where possible, collaborate with health and education agencies and give support to carers such as foster parents.

Please note that Kent is a very diverse county ranging from quite rural areas like Tonbridge Wells to areas that are very similar and close to London like Gravesham and Dartford.

Requirements:

• GSCC registration and Social Work/Social Pedagogy qualification
• Some work experience after qualifying would be an advantage
• Ability to work with schools, police, courts
• Good English
• Good communication skills
